Don’t be fast and furious. Just be predictable!
Do you feel like you waste a lot of time for work, which is then cancelled? Do you tend to overpromise delivery dates? Kanban 2-phase commit concept helps to address both: issues with work planning and identifying work which will not eventually be completed – already at its beginning. Supported by Theory of Constraints it helps teams to understand where the red flags in their processes are. I would like to share the story of my team, which succesfully implemented 2-phase commit method to our work and how that improved communication with stakeholders. I meet pretty often with people doubting that 2-phase commit really works or having difficulties with applying this concept to their processes. I’m happy to share with them, how we have achieved this state and how it resonates with our customers. But the basis for it was built during the time of problems, which we spent not only on solving issues, but – most of all – on constant learning, observing process and observing ourselves.
